Sexism:
Separation of The Sexes

TS Its not a big deal now to be friends with someone who has the opposite gender as you. CS The
public social life has matured in that way.

TS There was a great deal of sexism back when To Kill A Mockingbird takes place. SD Scout hangs out with boys, always with their adventurous ideas, their daydreams that confuse the elder citizens, only bringing joyful fun when they come near (loose sentence). CM Scout enjoys their satisfying and thrilling adventures, but the grownups will think it is a shameful thing of Scout to play with boys.  CM You couldn't have much of a variety of friends back then.  SD The women seem unsatisfied with the men's presence: "Ladies seemed to live in faint horror of men, seemed unwilling to approve wholeheartedly of them. But I liked them. There was something about them,-"(Lee, 313). CM Why must all of the ladies be expected to be stuck up and extremely sensitive? CM The men always seem to think we are soft and useless but we are helpful and smarter in ways they are not. CS Sexism continues to make people uneasy if it is right or wrong for a girl and a boy to be friends.

TS Natural sexism occurs in our lives without even trying. SD Naturally we become friends first with our same gender. CM We are known as more feminine, sometimes classified as "sissies", but we eventually become friends with a boy (periodic sentence). CM It is not looked down upon as often because it happens more often everday as girls and boys make friends around the world build. SD If you come into lunch at school you will see that most of the boys are sitting together and most of the girls are sitting together. CM Without doing it on purpose it just happens. CM Is it in our genes? CS Sexism does not occur as often today, you don't have to worry about what type of gender you are friends with.

TS Sexism has been forgotten by the generation of today. CS It's not something that will be repeated as much in the future.

Self-Assessment

1. One writing issue I am continuing to work on:
Using unnecessary words in my sentence.

2. One strong point I see in this piece of writing:
I really enjoy my periodic and loose sentence.

3. One possible weak point I see:
There may be a lack of unity.

4. The grade I would give myself:
I would probably give myself a B+.

Cassy,
This is a good essay but I did notice in the second body paragraph the CS is two sentences in one. Try adding an “and” after the word today. Also, the first CM of the first body paragraph is a little vague.
