Visit #2

TS When going to the Boys and Girls Club of America I was always a bit nervous to come and interact with the children. SD I always seem to get butterfly's in my stomach when I first arrive to Claude Chester School in Groton. CM They ended up going away when a familiar face runs up to me smiling, Maya. CM Maya seems to lighten the pressure up a bit when I see her face. SD It seems like the other kids in our class may have it easier interacted with these children because they have younger brothers or sisters. CM When Maya wants me to sit next her it makes me feel good and more comfortable in volunteering. CM This project is giving me experience in working with kids. SD Some small positive comments from the kids to me makes me feel better with working with them. CM This one boy said: "you are very nice Miss Cassy." CM While sitting near Maya, she drew a bookmark and gave it to me and said: "you should help me with my paper bag puppet because you are my best friend." CS All of their little comments like that keep on building my confidence and comfortability around those kids for the future visits.
