My Fears:

Common Fears to Me, But Maybe Not For Others

TS Fear is powerful to everyone's personality. CM It can make the people shy because they don't want to tell people their fears. CM Telling someone's fears could be embarrassing. CS When you tell your fears it may lead to shame in yourself.

TS The fears that I have confront me every once in awhile. SD I have realized after going to restaurants that I happen to be scared of intoxicated people. CM I remember a time when I went to Voodoo Grill there were a bunch of men at the bar. CM After awhile, the men started talking really loud and yelling and swaying back in forth andI did not appreciate it. SD There are also times when my friends want me to go to Six Flags but I usually hesitate. CM I admit that I am scared of roller coasters. CM I have been on one that dropped extremely fast which really frightened me. CM The thought of thecontentsof my stomach rising because of the G-Force is very intimidating for me. SD Throughout writing projects, such as essays, I have always been scared to see what my final grade was. CM This nervousness seems to melt away once I have my grade. CM When I have my grade then I can either be disappointed or proud of my work andI won't be anxious about my grade.Throughout life I will gain more fears that will take awhile to emerge. CS What would happen if the world had no fears?

TS I always hear stories about difficulties with cars causing it to crash. SD On the bus back from a field trip during Pine Point Camp, I remember Hannah having problems with opening the bus window. CM There was a fear that dwelled inside of me that was about to emerge without warning. CM With shame she was finally able to open the window with such a force it made a loud popping noise. SD This noise that rang in our ear was far too loud for a window shutting. CM Immediately the bus turned lopsided swerving off the road. CM The tire had popped creating a noise that made us all jump and scream. CM We all quickly thought in our minds that Hannah somehow popped the tire. SD When we slowed down we were all shaking a bit scared of what could of happened. CM We all had a good laugh about it afterwards. CM But some of us didn't realize what could of happened. CS Will this kind of fear confront me again?

TS Shame wins its ways usually. CM Shame confronted me about my fear of roller coasters and embarrassed me. CM It sneaks up out of no where and lowers your self esteem. CS Fears causing shame is not what people need, they need fears that they can conquer and feel good about it.

A Feather:

Different Shades of Personalities

TS A feather flutters to the ground. CM This is like a person's personality fluttering far away so it affects the people around them. CM A male bird's feathers are bold while a female's are barely noticed. CS There are certain times when people want to be in the light or in the shadows.

TS Personalities are always unique, always bold, always your own (anaphora).SD Jem's personality is made up of multiple personalities that Dill might not see, only Scout. CM It always seems that Jem's personality changes when he is around Dill. CM Each personality is like a distinctive shade of color in the feather's quills. SD Jem never seems to listen to Scout when he is around Dill. CM Jem acted like Scout was not important at all: "Jem waved my words away as if fanning gnats"(Lee, page 78). CM For example, when there are a flock of birds they usually warn each other if a predator is coming, but in this case Jem would not listen if Scout tried to warn him. SD Scout always tries her best to fit in with Jem and Dill but it's too hard sometimes. CM Scout is like a bird camouflaging with dull feathers, not wanting to have bold noticeable feathers. CM Scout should not care what they think of her and be proud of herself. CS Everyone shouldn't be ashamed of who they are just because they are slightly different; it's not good for everyone to be clones.

TS There are situations where you have to decide whether you want to be camouflaged or be completely bold. SD Sometimes in my daily activities, I want to camouflaged like dull feathers of a female bird.CM I don't want to be noticed, I don't want to be bothered, I don't want to have the chance of being rejected (anaphora).CM During classes I will sometimes try to blend in with everyone so I have a better chance of not being picked on. SD There are also times when I want to be noticed like a male bird with bold colored feathers. CM When I am trying to tell a story, I usually get annoyed if someone isn't listening when I'm telling it. CM When I say something funny, I usually enjoy it when they acknowledge me by laughing. SD There are, unfortunately, times when I get embarrassed and I want to float away like a feather slowly floats to the ground.CM Jem must have felt like he wanted to float away when he saw that shadow with him on the Radley's porch. CM I'm sure at least once in someone's life they have been so embarrassed that they wanted to disappear. CS The everyday wants and needs of human attention still drags me in of to be or not to be camouflaged.

TS The importance of being noticed or not is always a big issue with people's self esteem. CM Being noticed is such a joy that ricochets off our heart making it pump faster. CM Being unnoticed is a blanket that covers our heart shadowing us from the social world. CS These affect the shades of someone's personality.

Privacy:
An Essay of My Own Life and TKAM Situations

TS Privacy is a necessity everyone needs at one point or another. CM If there was no privacy in the world, what would become of us? CM Would we all become insane? CS The world obviously needs to keep it's sanity or things could go wrong.

TS In To Kill A Mockingbird, the citizens of Maycomb, the southern town where the Finches live, have no privacy. SD The Finches should realize that there is no privacy. CM We love compliments but we hate criticisms (antithesis). CM For example Boo seemed to not know what privacy was: " ' Stephanie Crawford even told me once she woke up in the middle of the night and found him looking in the window at her-' "(Lee, page 60). SD Miss Maudie found that some of the foot-washers were very nosy, they seemed to invade her privacy too much. CM It's a good thing that she stood up for herself most of the time. CM For example, Miss Maudie loves flowers but the foot-washers had something to say about that: " '-some of 'em came out of the woods one Saturday and passed by this place and told me me and my flowers were going to hell' "(Lee, page 59). SD All of the people of the town of Maycomb all seemed to be invading each others privacy. CM One of the citizens, Boo Radley, peeped into a teacher's house at night. CM If the towns people sat down and thought what they were doing they would probably realize how invasive they all were. CS Will they figure out this problem by themselves?

TS Is it okay for our friends or parents to intrude so much in our life that is unbearable? SD My parents nose around too much in my social life. CM Sometimes my parents ask me what I'm talking about with my friends even though that is my own business. CM For example, my dad would randomly look behind at my computer screen to see what I was talking about. SD I dislike it when my parents want to talk about something that's private because it is too personal. CM For example, when my parents are dating someone new and they usually ask me if I like them which is usually awkward. CM When my parents ask me that question I enjoy telling the truth, but the truth sometimes hurts (appositive closer). SD There are times, when I want to say something to my parents that I can't. CM These times usually happen when they are lecturing me, but what I have to say would usually upset them. CM When my parents are in the middle of a lecture I try sometimes to tell them my opinion but they won't let me interrupt them. CS I know that all kids any age experience these scenarios at least once in their life.

TS The citizens of Maycomb need a lot of privacy. CM Nobody seems to be able to control the nosy people who peek into everyone's personal life. CM If I lived in Maycomb I would become insane because everyone seemed to know what was going on in everyone's lives. CS Privacy is necessary for a normal life.

Education:
Is It Important or Not?

TS Is education important? CM The best way to find out if education is important is that you should experience it. CM Surely the experience of education will be a memory that you will never forget, whether it’s good or bad. CS Listen to what your parents say before you say that education is not important.

TS No one really wants to go to school, but Atticus tells Scout that education is very important in life. SD Atticus does not want Scout trying to skip school because he feels that it is extremely vital for her to go. CM Unfortunately, Atticus never got to go to school and he doesn’t want his daughter to take after him. CM Atticus doesn’t want Scout to turn into the Ewells, a dirty uneducated family (appostive). SD Atticus still wants to read with Scout so she can build her vocabulary even though the teacher found out and got angry at him. CM Atticus thinks that the teacher shouldn’t be threatened by the fact that he reads with Scout and she might be learning something new. CM He will definitely make sure that Scout’s teacher does not hear of them reading together because he would probably get in trouble and might hurt the chances of good education for Scout. SD Scout’s father made it clear that he wants her to go to school. CM Back then, if your child did not go to school the guardian would get arrested and Atticus would not want that at all. CM Atticus knows that Scout thinks the teacher is annoying but he had a clever saying to make her understand the teacher’s ways: “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-“(Lee, page 39). CS Its best that Scout follows these rules or she could get into a mess that no one would want to clean up.

TS Everyone thinks on the way to a good education takes time that most of us do not want to spend. SD The process is unfortunately, excruciatingly boring most of the time. CM For example, during class if the teacher is talking for awhile people usually don’t pay attention because they are bored to tears. CM I know from experience that sometimes I would come home from school complaining about how boring it is, but my parents just tell me that I will get a good education and it will help in the future. SD Atticus will never understand the experience of school because he was never sent to school when he was a child, so he doesn’t have that great of an education. CM Scout one day comes home from school and says that she does not want to go to school anymore. CM It is very hard for Atticus to tell her that Scout has to go to school, knowing that she’ll just say that he never went to school and he turned out fine (participle). SD At one point or another we all figure out that to have an education is very important for our future to be bright. CM Throughout school we tend to get closer and closer to finding out what we want to do when we grow up. CM We all get eventually convinced in different times that having an education is very accommodating. CS Whether we like it or not education is always going to be the most important thing in the career.

TS You, the reader, have heard the thoughts about education from Atticus. CM Take awhile to let his points settle in then make your choice. CM I made my choice after hearing numerous lectures from my parents why education is important. CS It’s always wise to listen to what people have to say before making a comment.
